The Beginning
There is always a beginning. Mine started more than 40 years ago in the clubs I belonged to in high school, the Air Force and college. The ideas have accumulated like snow to create a recognizable shape. I want to share with you what that shape looks like to me. I expect by doing that I can help all volunteer nonprofits get their best results.
I added the academic aspect to my on-the-job training with a BA in economics and political science and with a Master of Public Administration [MPA].
I will write about how what I’ve learned and what I believe can be used to have best results for an all volunteer nonprofit. Yes, I am making a distinction with a staffed nonprofit because the organizational dynamics are different.
Over the next little while I will cover many topics but they will fall into 6 key areas: volunteers, committee, board, president, management team, and operations. I will be drawing on my over 40 years of work, paid and volunteer, with public, private, nonprofit and governmental organizations.
I have old opinions and current ones. I expect you to find them interesting or at least challenging. Be sure and let me know what you think and what your opinions are. Email any questions you have. I will try to answer them in either a post or a return email but no promises.
