Proper Care and Feeding Helps Your Volunteers Grow
Volunteers are the key resource in an all volunteer nonprofit organizations and a critical resource in any nonprofit organization. The leaders in a nonprofit should evaluate their effectiveness as a steward of their volunteers. This should be done on a regular basis.
Volunteers are a unique resource since they are self generating. When they are in the right position and when they are motivated to do their best work, they will continually regenerate themselves and their organization.
Volunteers are also unique because they are self replacing. An enthusiastic volunteer will draw other into the organization with their enthusiasm.
Volunteer recruitment is an ongoing need for any nonprofit. This job is made easier when existing volunteers are in the right position, motivated, and enthusiastic about the results of their organization.
To accomplish this volunteers need to be effectively screened as to their aptitudes and interests. They need to have at most two responsibilities but it would be best to one.
